Typically our blog posts are witty, sarcastic, and full of raptures about the virtues of Mexican cuisine—and that’s why you read them. But today we’d like to talk about something very near and dear to our hearts here at Cafe Rio: giving back to our community.

Last week we partnered with Hope for the Warriors to offer a day of free food at our Waldorf, Maryland location. For the entire day, hungry patrons were treated to any entrée on the menu plus a drink. And the only thing we asked in return was for a small donation of their choice to Hope for the Warriors. Our customers stepped up and did just that, raising $3,000 for Hope For The Warriors®.

Hope for the Warriors is a non-profit organization enhances the quality of life for post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. Hope For The Warriors® is dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.

“We’re proud of the $3,000 we raised for Hope for the Warriors,” said Ben Craner, Chief Marketing Officer of Café Rio Mexican Grill, “but we can do so much more. Waldorf was just the beginning. We’re going to continue these free food days at locations throughout the United States, throughout the summer, to really make a difference in the lives of these amazing veterans.”

Which location will we go to next? Will it be yours? Stayed tuned, amigos, stay tuned.
