Updates on COVID19 Preparedness

Tuesday, May 5, 2020

Our communities are slowly starting to re-open. We are excited to soon be serving you from inside our restaurants once again. While we all make this transition together, we want to reassure you that we do so by taking great responsibility for the care of our guests and employees.

We operate in 12 states throughout the country. Each state, county, city may have different guidelines for what is required to re-open. So, you may see some differences across our restaurants for how to access our fresh, scratchmade meals as we work through the re-open phases. You can select the locations tab on our website to see each restaurant's service availability.

No matter which phase we are in, health and safety are always a top priority. You'll see the following adjustments in restaurants that are re-opening for carry-out service:

  • Social distancing markers for our ordering line.
  • Hand sanitizing stations for guests and team members.
  • Plexiglass dividers.
  • Protective gloves and masks for all team members.
  • Increased disinfectant cleaning.
  • Team member health checks before each shift.

While we transition to in-restaurant service, we know that not all our guests are ready for that move themselves. We will continue to offer order-ahead for Curbside Pick-up service; and, at a select number of restaurants, Curbside Order. We will also continue to offer free delivery through our DoorDash and Postmates delivery partners through the end of May.

We are very happy to be moving toward full-capacity dine-in and to-go service. While we do not have a timeline for that, yet, we are very thankful to our guests and team members for their support over these unique times. We truly will get through this together. We deeply appreciate our Cafe Rio family.

We look forward to serving you.

Ensuring we are properly caring for our guests and employees is a daily imperative. We continue to work hard to provide safe, fresh and nourishing meals. It's what is right for our guests and it's what is right for our employees. These are challenging times to navigate, but we know perseverance and vigilance will keep us all strong through it.

Effective today, all our kitchens are open and ready to serve our guests through Curbside Pickup. While it is not mandated for each of our restaurants to exclusively use Curbside Pickup, we are proactively enabling Curbside Pickup everywhere so our guests have the choice of remaining in their car. To utilize this service, select Curbside Pickup and provide your car's details during online ordering.

Staying Vigilant:
* All our employees prepare food wearing gloves.
* We follow food safety practices each and every day, all day.
* Employees are not allowed to be at work if they are not feeling well. Further, we have enhanced our paid sick leave policy, which now starts on the first day of employment, so every employee is covered.

We know your trust in us is extremely important. We are committed to keeping that trust now and into the future. We are here to serve.

To Our Valued Guests,

The health and safety of our community is a top priority for us. To help ensure we are doing our part to protect our guests and employees from the spread of COVID-19, we are implementing additional precautions at our restaurants.

Effective immediately, the following changes to our operations will take place:

1) We are temporarily closing our dining rooms. Starting immediately, we are offering Curbside Pickup at our Colorado, Manhattan Beach CA, Maryland, Utah and Washington State locations. Guests can place their order online and select Curbside Pickup.  A Cafe Rio employee will gladly bring your order to your car.

2) Our restaurants in Arizona will be offering online ordering pick-up and in-restaurant to-go orders.

3) At-home delivery through Door Dash and Postmates will be available for all restaurants except Park City, UT.

4) Drive-thrus are available at the following locations:

  • Arizona: Goodyear
  • Idaho: Idaho Falls
  • Nevada: Craig Road
  • Utah: Cedar City, Draper, Provo, South Provo, Sugarhouse, and Tooele

5) Employees will be given the opportunity, through a new wellness survey conducted at login, to speak up before their shift starts regarding any health concerns.

6) We have extended paid sick leave for all employees so no one feels the burden of coming to work when they are not feeling well.

We thank all our guests as we continue to work together to protect one another, while trying to enjoy some normalcy and comfort during these unprecedented times.

The health and safety of our valued guests and team members is of great importance to us. With the increasing impact of the coronavirus in many of our communities, we want to share with you how we are helping to keep our guests and team members protected.

Cafe Rio follows stringent industry food safety protocols every day in our restaurants. In addition to our existing practices, our restaurants have heightened their cleaning and disinfecting procedures to maintain a healthy environment for our guests and team members. We’ve instructed anyone who is not feeling well to stay home out of an abundance of caution and self-monitor their symptoms. In addition to following CDC guidance and partnering with local health departments, all restaurants have been equipped with recommended procedures to follow if someone from their restaurant becomes impacted by the virus.

As the situation continues to evolve, we will monitor CDC and local health department guidance and act accordingly.

We are deeply grateful for your loyalty; and we will continue to work hard on your behalf to provide fresh, scratch-made, high-quality meals for you, your family and friends to enjoy. Thank you for your patience and support while we all navigate these challenging times together.
